If you want to avoid the madness of Los Angeles on the I-5, I strongly recommend taking a detour to 395, which eventually turns into the 215 and then the I-15. You’ll probably even get there an hour sooner. The drive is there is sheer eye-candy and other drivers are few and far between. Anyway, not much else to be said for this stretch of road, except when I got near coastal San Diego, my visor kept soaking up from the unbelievable amount of mist in the air. Chillin.
I ultimately ended up staying in San Diego longer than the expected “couple of days.” For one, I was having a lot of fun chillin with mi childhood mate Shaffy; two, San Diego was kinda chill — I was really diggin the place this time ’round; and three, I had a few odds and ends to tie up.
After about a week, just when I was psyched to embark, I noticed what might have turned into a major mechanical on the bike. Anyway, I found the necessary parts, fixed the issue, and two days later was on my way to Tijuana. Chillin!
